I have the 585. I don't use the safety at all. I don't think it will open in my pocket, it hasn't yet in a couple months. And I seriously don't see it closing on my fingers with an Axis lock engaged.

I've had my 580S for a few days... I've been using the safety while its in my pocket, for no reason really other than its there ... I'm not worried about it catching my pocket, I think I just like to click the little thing up and down.. But like I said, its there so I use it..

I don't, however, use it while the knife is open... I just never think of it.. Plus, with the axis lock and the assist mechanism keeping it open, I find it next to impossible that it would actually close all the way on my fingers..
