i just recieved the knife, and it is perfect! bad azz, solid in every way. BUT, once you open the knife, if you look in the handle where the flat spring is that works the safety, mine is flush where it coils, and by the time it is in contact with the safety, it is about 1mm or so protruding away from the inside of the scale.

i called up benchmade, and they said it is normal on this model.

just curious if any body else's is doing that.

I LOVE THIS KNIFE!

I got to handle a 9051 about a week ago and was blown away by the strength of the action. Impressive does not do it justice. The only thing that seemed out of place was the safety. Given how overbuilt the rest of the knife is, the safety seemed, well, light or delicate. It's not at all, it just seems that way in comparison to the rest of the build. Any way you look at it, the 9051 is a serious tool!

Who uses the safety anyway? Wink

I believe the safeties on auto's are engineering afterthoughts to make lawyers happy.
