Good posts all!

Believe me, not trying to make a huge deal out of this. I am sick and tired of people trying to pull one over on me constantly, guess this was the last straw Smiler

Sent a message regarding the refund, we'll see, if not, meh, I'll go after another 710 non serrated, and send my other 710 back for repair.

Thanks all for the help, sure was a comical post I'm sure.

That lazer etching is easily removed with 220 grit wet dry sand paper and a smooth flat surface, cheaper and faster than sending it to BM.

The spines already have a rough finish and a light sanding will remove the etching without causing any marring.

Best of luck, take that dishonest sucker for every penny you can!

you know it is very possible the knife is NIB.

1. ive gotten many NIB BMs with finger prints. they dont use robots to bag/box the knives.

2. if you work at a BM store you are able to order BMs, 1 or 2 a year i think, at a very discounted price but you must have initials (or a name if you pay extra) engraved on the spine.

ive never actually seen an employee engraved one, so i cant say this is a BM engraving but its deffinatly no dremel job. its also likley he knew about the engraving, especially if its his screen name as you infered, but it may be possibe he didnt know too.
not tring to defend this guy, i could care less, id say 10-15 would be reasonable and i never buy things on ebay anymore because most things ive gotten were either crap, broken or not as described.

98% of my eBay knife buying experiences have been great.

My first one was not (or one of my first). Purchased a 940 (with that cool red/black handle). Did not get the knife. Weeks later I did get a knife, but it was a standard 940.

I have bought 100's of knives on eBay, and have only been ripped off (and that means knife was not delivered at all) twice. I can only think of three knives that did not come as described.

Contrast that with some of the cool knives I have gotten. Some a amazing deals.

I got an HK 34 (tanto) for $69, and a 943BK NIB, SHIPPED for $99.

Right now it is a buyer's market for knives. Lots of people selling because they need the cash, and not many buyers because they don't havce it.

If you buy one thing on eBay every two years, and it is not what you were expecting. Yea, maybe it is not for you.

But if you buy a good amount. You will find the bad experiences are rare, and are more than off set by the value and quality of other purchases.

But yea... The dude sould have told you about the engraving.

I'm with Mark on this one. Sometimes I even took chances buying knives from sellers with zero to very few feedbacks, when the deal was too good to pass, and every time I got them in condition described. No regrets here. Only once it took a knife over a month to get here from Dallas, but it wasn't sellers fault, package was postmarked with all the correct dates, it probably got lost in transit, then found and delivered.

I've done tons of business on eBay and have had only a few problems, mostly due to how things were packed.

On this and other Forums I'm reading the soft prices and slow sales on the part of buyers, and wonder just a little if the desperation of a few is beginning to show up now. As is, I prefer to do deals with those known, but I still find myself willing to trust a little, the odds are still in our favor.

Agreed on the engraving part, it should have been disclosed.

One side effect of the economy on knife sales on eBay is that you see less and less open auctions. What I mean is that sellers are setting a starting price at pretty much what they want upfront.

If not, you will see a knife sell for about 1/3 less than it would have three years ago.
