Infidel 3300-Not desiged to "Stab"???

My 3300 fires nice and locks up solid. But when I try to stab something like a wood block, the blade retracts back in to the handle. I sent it in, they sharpened it, replaced some parts and quickly sent it back. When I opened it up and tested it, it fired and locked up. Then I went to stab the wooden block and......CLICK! back into the handle it went. I sent it back in. I explained the nature of the problem in detail. I was told the infidel isn't made for "stabbing" tasks. I asked "so its dagger blade, meant for cutting but not stabbing?" She answered "Yes, its a dagger blade meant for cutting *she giggles*"
So my question is, exactly what is the force required in lbs to make this lock fail?? And has anyone else experienced this? If this is true, I see why they now have the newer single edge infidels as they look more suitable for cutting Smiler Thanks

Id ask for a refund.

A $400 knife and you cant stab things with it? WTF?

You should be able to hammer the knife through a 55 gallon drum.

Given the design and intended purpose of the Infidel to not be able to stab even a tomato would be a real disaster in the hands of someone like a LEO, or military guy who needed to really use it for more than that.

Turn it back in and get a 5000, 9051, or any of the side opening Ottos where the blade actually locks open, so you can do what you want.

The knives I mentioned are a lot stronger in design and from what I've read would provide better service and longevity in a hostile environment. A lot of guys carry something fixed too, you might want to look into that.

I wish you a safe and successful deployment over there and come back home whole and healthy. Thanks for your service!

Tone, you're the second guy deploying that's brought the 3300 up.

My response to the first gentleman heading across the pond... get an auto stryker, get a 3550.... get any Benchmade knife over a 3300.

Please listen to me on this, OTF autos are HORRIBLE for anything but showing off.

get an auto that fires out the side, get a fixed blade, or even get a non auto knife that cleans easily and doesn't care if it gets dirty.

I'm saying this because if you need a high quality knife, and if it might save your life, depending on the weakest knife design BM offers (this is my opinion only) is a horrible mistake.

if you like the dagger design there's the 3550.

if you want reliable even while dirty, I'd say avoid auto knives all togather.

if you want "fool proof" I recommend an actual combat knife with full tang, full spine, choils that fit you, and some good steel.

I'm only writing this because I care about you and the other guys you are going with.

God bless and good luck.

Jon

I drove and stabbed my Columbus Ohio phone book which is really thick and the infidel went right through it so I have no doubt it would inflict serious bodily harm to someone in a defensive situation.....

From what u described it sounds like you have a defective knife. I would ask for a new one now a repaired one! Black Class

Thanks for all the concern guys Smiler Yeah the Army actually issues us auto strykers! I know that OTF's or autos all together are not the knives you wanna rely upon in a bad situation. But like i said it was more of just an excuse to get one, lol. I will be taking it over though, it will be on my vest. I have a CRKT Ultima I like that im going to be using as a primary on my side so this will probably just be a backup. Id like to say that benchmade has been very fast, friendly and helpful with all the work and answering questions but maybe they might wanna reconsider the way they market this product. Although it is very cool! its not the knife of choice for any soldiering task. But I still cant wait to get it back! lol Smiler

Granted I didnt read all the post here , but I just took my infidel and stabbed it into a oak log and then the wall stud in the garage and I had no failure.
I,d talk to Diane at BM repair , and find out whats up ..dj
