While at this Gunshow I saw one dealer that had a couple of smaller BM knifes packaged on Blister Cards. (Like a model 585) His prices seemed pretty good. Are these knives the same quality as the ones you buy in the Blue/Black Boxes or are these like second quality items? ...Just wondering.

They're the same top quality. Some retailers request that all items be able to hang rather than require a lock and key to get to. I've seen many Benchmades available in blister packaging over the years at military installation PX and BX's. You won't find them at Wal-Mart because they don't trust the clientele with that kind of money on the line, but sometimes BassPro and Cabela's and the like prefer the blister packs to standard boxes.

There's no added or decreased value so far as I'm aware.

Just wondering...I know he had a 585SBK for $70. I just bought one here off the classifieds for $90 and thought that wasn't too bad a deal.

If you ever resell the knife, you'll usually take a hit in the wallet if it doesn't have the blue box, so the money you saved buying in the clamshell/blisterpak ought to about even out the price difference at resell time. If you're going to use it and/or keep it though, who cares, same knife, same quality. My blue boxes just sit empty on the self anyway.

Nice Johnno! I haven't seen one like that before. Also, I haven't seen one labeled 970SB before. My blue box one says 975SBT. (I only have one 970 and its a satin PE)
