I had a 520 - saw a 525 for $100 in my favorite sharp-thing emporium mark down stash. They were mixed boxes - mismatched knives & boxes. The 525 was accurate - but the 522SBK & 525SBK had the wrong knives inside the boxes, the original boxes being long gone. I pointed out the 520-like knife - and was told it had to go at that $100 price. When I elected to get both it and the plain 525, another $10/each was deducted. When Mrs. Santa saw I wanted the 525, she absconded it for a Christmas present. The oddball was mine. It turned out to be a 5000 - after I got home and found a magnifier - an auto 520! Mrs. Santa shocked me last Christmas with my other auto - a 6150. This one seems more controllable. The salesman said it was fine... but I feel like I got too good of a deal. What do you think? Any 5000 fans out there? Stainz PS The 5000 is near perfect - just not quite an arm hair razor. Smooth action - not the shocker opening as the 6150 was new. Nice knife. This message has been edited. Hey Stainz, I owned both 5000 and 5500 and the smaller 525 variant was definitely faster than the larger one. IMO the auto Axis is one of the fastest and most reliable mechanism's out there...and the manual A/O Axis is nearly as fast as to open and as reliable. Congrats on a couple of great scores and the wife (Mrs. Santa) sounds like a winner...although too bad you lost that 525...! Better to have the wives on our sides in the knife purchases! 350, 520, 525BK-1101, 530, 580-1102, 580 Proto, 583-1, 585-1, 710-1, 710-2, 710D2, 710HS, 722, 732, 740, 740 Proto, 741, 745, 746, 746-1201, 750, 790, 800, 800HS, 805-1101, 810, 812, 830, 831, 835HS, 840, 845, 890, 905, 907D2, 910, 910SCG, 912D2, 913D2, 12400 Proto, 12410, 14205, 14210, 40022-100.
