I can't help but wonder if what your seeing isnot a thinner blade but a thicker handle that simply makes the blade appear thin at first glance. A slight change in the preportion of handle to blade could really make a differance in how one or the other appears. I know that when I instaled my Wilkins scales on my grip the thicker scales made the blade appear thinner. Not a bad thing, it just took some getting used to.

I suppose that's a possibility.

The rift is my current favorite of all the newer benchmade knives. I would definately know if the handle was wider in any way. The blade was DEFINATELY narrower that is for sure. Dont know if it was just the prototype that I handled? Lets hope that was the case and it does not follow through in the production versions. I would be very interested to do a comparison pic when they do release the final production versions with a manual version. Cant wait.

All I know is according to the BM website the specs are the exact same for the two. The only thing that should be different is the axis lock vs. the auto axis lock.

Wickedsharp, when you handled the knife at shot. How was the deployment speed? I'm looking to compare this knife to the 5000 Presidio. Thanks.

the prototype that I handled wasnt that "snappy" but it was enough. Dont know how else to describe but normal auto speed.
