I am considering ordering a BM 9051 AFO II from the place where the knife works and I was wondering who has ordered autos from them in the past and how was it. Pennsylvania has laws against carrying an auto but it appears from what I have read that you can collect them. If it is going to be a problem I have a buddy that is a LEO that I might be able get to order it for me.

Let me know.

TX has same laws for autos and balis. I ordered from that same place before and it wasn't a problem. Go for it.

I suggest you call them to make the order instead of ordering from the website. That way, they can tell you if there will be a problem. To date, I have never had a problem with anything I ordered from them, but I only ordered once. It was a two-item order, and one was a pre-order. They called me within an hour and asked whether I wanted the available item to be held until the pre-order was available. They shipped the item that day, and my pre-order is out for delivery with USPS as we speak.

An ti ci pa tion!!!

Mailing or shipping automatic knives across state lines (unless it fits the provisions of The Switchblade Act) is a federal felony. Most reputable knife dealers will not do this unless your "papers" are in order. Also, the discussion of circumventing the law on public forums is frowned upon as it creates a boatload of liability for many parties.

If it is legal to own or carry an automatic in your state, it is best to find a dealer who will order the knife for you.

I will almost guarantee that the dealer in question will not sell outright to you unless you comply with the law as written.

Also, if you go to the specific site in question, they have a special site for automatics. On the left hand side there are two tabs. One on the Federal law, and the other is a lists of states. In your state, you are allowed to own but not carry. (Just found out in my state I am allowed to own and carry!!! Did not know that).

Mark, I believe the law says that it's illegal to ship those knives across state lines via USPS, UPS or FEDEX should be OK. I can't remember where I read this, but I most certainly did.

I'm not so sure about that. Otherwise, why is it that Benchmade and Microtech cannot repair auto knives for people who, more or less, are not LE/.mil? (though Benchmade will if you are in Oregon and are an Oregon resident).
