This started this AM when I saw some more sale items at my favorite pusher's lair. I like my 15020-1 BC more than the 950 Rift I have - but... sometimes, you get caught up in the 'deal'. Let's see - not fond of black blades - or auto's - and I just bought another one? I talked another patron into doing the same - and then, the 9555BK's were gone.

Of course, i have one - now. First observation - like others I found reported last January - the 9555 blade is not as wide as the 950 - same length and the thickness looks the same. My recent 5000 looks like my 520 - as my 6150 looks like my 615. But this 9555 is definitely less wide than the 950. I wonder why??

Great difference in the 'auto' function - the 6150 lept from my hand as I opened it the first time last Christmas. It nearly made Elmer, my cat, into his own half brother! The 5000 has a bit less 'authority' - but requires a dedicated hold. The 9555 is polite, by comparison. Effective - but slower - more 'reserved'. Of course, the thumb stud on each of their manual versions makes them faster to deploy - for me - and they are still securely in my hand afterwards. No safety lock to disengage, either. Of course, although their carry may not be legal in many locales, they are still neat - and fun!

Now - how does one sell off his auto collection? How do you know you are selling one to a person who can legally own one? How do you keep some 13 yr old zit-farm from utilizing his Mom's PayPal to buy your knife? Now I know why folks collect, er, keep their auto knives...

PPS The morning after! This is one perfect example - centered, sharp as a razor, and clip off, I cannot tell which side it was on! Great feel in the hand. It makes me appreciate the 950 more. Cannot believe the price my wife paid, either - a steal.
