Has anyone taken the 9100 apart and photographed it step by step? Any tips on taking it apart and putting it back together?

I've not done a 9100 but I've taken apart and reassembled the 9530, 9000, 9050, and 2550. They are all pretty much the same so these instructions should work.

These instructions are taken from my post here. I am reposting the details in case that thread gets pruned soon.

quote:

...

some hints for reassembling:
- tape off the blade so you can grip it.
- if possible have the blade stop pin be in the opposite handle scale from the plunger lock.
- good lighting helps
- assemble once without auto spring to see how everything fits

this is the order in which i try to reassemble:
1. put in auto spring
2. put in plunger lock spring
3. put in plunger lock
4. partially depress plunger with thumb
5. put blade onto pivot, hooking auto spring onto blade ( you may need to tilt the spine of the blade back towards the plunger - this is where removing the blade stop comes in handy )
6. rotate blade partially closed to keep plunger in place
7. holding partially assembled knife in one hand, attach other handle scale, lining up pivot, plunger, and blade stop pin. if all is in place let blade rest fully open
8. holding knife in one hand, hand-thread in all screws, starting from pivot
9. tighten down all screws ( blade might not open since pivot screw is too tight )
10. loosen pivot screw until blade opens freely.

that should be it.

...

I will post some pics tonight.

Thanks Jesse, I appreciate it...I'm not concerned about the warranty, I probably would never send an automatic in to BM anyway unless it was something serious. Too much trouble. Besides, I've never had a problem with one.

You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. Smiler

Taking it apart is pretty simple, just watch out for the springs. The knife can jump a bit in your hands once you get the screws out.

The machanisms are actually pretty simple. They only tricky part is getting the spring back in correctly, but that's just a matter of fumbling through it. If you don't loose any of the parts, it's all straight forward.
