I'm with you there, I'd love to pick up a brend 3. Some of the best lines I've seen on a knife for sometime.

Last summer, as my hatchday approached, I decided to reward myself with a BM 480-1 Shoki and a MicroTech Ultratech plain DE from a local knife emporium. As I left - buyer's remorse set in. I got half a block before making a U-turn. Exchange wasn't a problem... and I had spent within a few cents of what a fresh new small Sebenza in S35VN would cost. I went home with the Sebbie. Several weeks later, on my birthday, my wife presented me with the pair I had exchanged.

To be blunt - and it may just be internet hype - I don't have faith that my Ultratech will be trouble free - or easily serviced, if need be. Certainly, it won't be like a Benchmade. My Auto Impel, Presidio, Rift, & Rukus give me no such worries. The main fault I have found thus far in my DE Ultratech is that the top edge, closest to the activating button, must rub internally as it dulls a bit by open/close action. If I had it to do over, I'd rethink the DE blade. None of my good knives are serrated - I wouldn't change that... at least, I don't think I would...

It helps to evaluate a new MicroTech by operating it - in person. That's the only way I'd buy one, too. I picked mine due to it's even in & out effort. Some were decidedly more difficult to deploy or retract. Of course, my experience with Benchmade is far better - the only variable these days seems to be sharpness.

In MY opinion, having my 2nd. MicroTech MAKORA ® ; one from work. One from local gun / knife show.
I compare the two as 'Dodge Viper vs Dodge Challenger '. Both good. One Better.
Its the auto OTF and has been Completly reliable.
I am however somewhat interested in the 3350 mini auto OTF to buy or perhaps trade one for. But we'll see.
Bottom line MicroTech does and Will be number one.
Hope it was helpful

An interesting first post... sure you don't want to try Microholics lol?

Just kidding...

Tho I really, really have a problem with Microtech and will never buy one of their knives again. Tony's blatant copies of the ZT knife nd patent infringement really make me hope he's not around when I'm putting out some killer designs. Last thing I want is some scumbag stealing my hard work. Not to mention their abysmal CS and refusal to ship knives back to their owners because of "legalities" even within the same state. As a company, Microtech sucks donkey balls.

Some of their knives are alright tho, I EDC'ed an Ultratech for about a year and liked it tho after the year was up the spring was noticably weaker than it was on day one. I also had a hard time getting an edge on the knife, which is saying something for me.

I respect your, and everyone's opinion. It's their right.
Still being open minded, I'm just by Me And My Departments years of reliable use. My Department being a Major State Police agency.
Just making a comment for the first time on this; one of countless forums I am a member of, I would prefer to do so without 'defensive ' rebutels and / or flaming.
Regardless, I wish you the best in your business or what that might be.
