Got a 9100, been using it for some years now, however recently it has been opening slow, the axis has a lot gunk in there, how do I clean it?

Try using an compressed air gun on it...it works wonders blowing out fluff from your pocket and gunk.

Another tried and true suggestion: Give the knife a bath in hot soapy water, swab the innards with a pipe cleaner, NOT Q-tips, which leave lint of their own...dry the knife with a hair dryer on the LOW setting and after dry use Blue Lube or whatever your favorite stuff is on the pivots.

If your mechanically inclined , take the sucker apart and clean it.
Best bet is to send it to BM and have them change the spring .......
Maybe its gettin weak and worn.
