I have been flipping for just a couple of days but I can say that I am not very good.

I actually think there is going to be a very good chance that I will never be able to get the hang of this. I know it will take a lot of practice, but I am not sure it will matter.

Are there others out there that never got good? I am just curious if some people just are not capable of getting good at it no matter what.

Have you watched Cutlery Lover's, Calvin Nation's or Bitehandle's tutorials?

Join the Flipping Arena and Jerzee Devil forum. Ask questions. Show videos of what you're doing. You'll get better. Someone just needs to teach you. It's not hard. It takes practice. You're using your hands unlike any way you have before.

I have watched a number of videos. I feels very awkward. I actually think I have excellent hand/eye coordination, I just seem to not be very good at even the tricks they say are super easy and basic.

I do not plan on quitting, I just wonder if I will ever get the hang of it.

Keep at it. You'll get there.

I flip everywhere I go. I have a trainer that I flip while driving. I can probably flip blindfolded now, even with my Double edged stiletto Balisong.

i am no professonal at flipping but it have a few small moves down...and the biggest thing that helped me was understanding in my brain how it had to happen...break the moves down into parts and work on one part at a time slowly and then speed them up and put it all together....and i know with me one move at a time.

First trick i ever did was the Y2K roll over, after basic open and full twirl of course.

Now I have the Behind the eight ball,
Around the world, latch drops wwhere a given as a first move too.

I am working on Slashncuts combo #6 right now...have hit my thumb a couple times. not bad enough to bandaid but ....eh Hazards of the job right Wink

You just gotta keep with it. Don't give up. I never thought I was going to get good but I can say I could probably hold my own now.

Practice Practice Practice.

Hello SYLUM, welcome to the forum. What balis do you have, or enjoy flipping the most.
do you have a set combination of tricks or do you just freestyle.

Practice practice practice

I could be better if i would spend more than 3 minutes at a time....just doing the same several tricks.... when i do devot 15 minutes 2 three times a day for about 3-4 days I get some real good results...More consistancy.

I have a routine of several moves I have been trying to link together so that when someone says..something like, "You know how to use that thing?"
at a moments notice i can flawlessly do an arieal open, twist my wrist to present the knife blade side up point facing to the left. To a full twirl, reverse the full twirl to go into a y2k roll over, follow with two safe handle spins into the behind the 8-ball,with a basic up down manuver to close...going into another full twirl..leading into the Around the World manuver. In doing the flip at the end of that trick i let it flip 1 1/2 times, so i can be in the starting position for combo #6. Where i finish with a latch drop to close then lock the latch and put it back into the pouch.....

and SAY yes I Can Big Grin Cool

But right now I still drop it from time to time or stall in the middle of a manuver but I am dedicatedly working at it here the next few weeks to see if i can vidoe it as a complete routine.

here's a quick vid of part of the routine. whats missing? The pulling of it from the pouch mounted horizontal right hip...and the combo #6 at he very end.

Sup? Big Grin I didn't see and introduction forum so I just started posting. XD

I own a few actually. One of the fabled 42's, a 51 which is in a passaround at the flipping arena, and a Nathan Dewey Custom trainer for public flipping. I reaaaaaaallllly want a 47 though.

It's hard to explain what I really do. If I'm freestyling, I prefer to feel out where the bali is and let it flow in it's own direction. Uggh it's hard to explain so I'll just show you.

I hope this works. Dunno how to embed videos. hahaha

ok pretty impressed now.
those where some wicked aerials.
and I would call it freestyle if you are not performing
the same tricks in the same order everytime.
think a game of "horse"
