can you please tell us what the plan is for the 42? is it just a limited run and if so why?

Like other collectibles, it is better not to overpopulate a highly desired item. I don't know the model number theory for Benchmade, but like other companies, they do seem to move on and progress to another model. Since all the 4x numbers are used and they are now into 5x models as the 4in bali, maybe the next "classic" bali will be 52, or 55? Maybe a titanium/Steel sandwich design with elements of the 51 added?

Model is discontinued. End of story. That's how I see it. If we'll ever see it for sale again it will be in small batches or limited runs. Anything else will not be business wise.

Ha ha ha, good luck getting Benchmade to respond to a faithful fan and collector of their knives on their own forum! While other makers actively converse with their fan base on third party forums, BM can't be troubled to talk to their most ardent fans ON THEIR OWN FORUM! Can't say why. I'm sure waaayyyy high up the food chain it seemed like a sound business decision at some point to ignore the fans. It's been said they read, although they can't speak. I rank that decision right up with prioritizing declining brick & mortar retail stores over increasing internet retail share as another one of BM's brilliant business moves . Luckily, they're still pretty bright when it comes to making knives, and on some other things too.
