How much handle play should there be on a new 42 when it's not locked?

Would loctite prevent the screws from loosining and therefore make it more difficult for the blade play to get even more loose?

Thanks!

What constitutes too much blade play is pretty subjective.

I have fit washers to my carry 4X series knives. It takes a bit of time, since I sand down washers that are too thick until I get little blade play, but I like the more solid feel and quieter sound when manipulating.

It is really subjective.

I came across this video some time ago.

Handle play is discussed starting with min. 11 sec. 40

On mine the faces of the blade actually contact the inside of the bite handle on one side so it does have to much play in it. I am going to fit washers sooner or later to fix it because I never had any luck with locktite. It just didn't stick the screws. The excess play makes it really easy to use since their is little friction at all but it does make more noise than I would think optimal.

All in all as long as the handles move free and don't contact the blade I would say that the knife is fine and probably doesn't need adjusting. I have also heard teflon tape is supposed to work better than locktite but haven't tried it myself.

Once you apply locktite it takes a day to solidify. Don't touch it once you set it where you want it and it should be fine. In my experience locktite works better then teflon tape, at least on balis.

rx......so you're saying the loctite prevents the handles from getting looser and prevents more handle play?

It prevents screws from getting loose and as a result helps reduce handle play.
