Just got a used Benchmade 42 with a T latch. I love the titanium handles. It feels like this knife will last forever and I love the sounds it makes while flipping. I'm really glad to experience the 42. Can somebody help me figure out which years it may of been made. The seller said it was 154cm, but I got no box and it's not labeled on the blade.

I suppose if it is t-latched, then it is not 154 Most probably 440c or 12C27 Sandvik Check with http://www.balisonginfo.com/pr.../benchmade/bm42.html ---------------------------------------------------- 42, 42SS, 42-400, 43, 43MC, 46MC, Balibalistic TAC-U, DR Venturi V82 Tanto I have two pets: a large main cat, and a small emergency backup one.

The blade will tell you. All spring latch models were 154cm or 440c, with the exception of a few ltd editions that had s30v or D2. Older T-latches were either 440c or Sandvik 12c27. They have the steel's designation etched on the blade, near the tang. If there is no steel indicator, then its 12c27 1st prod.32, 40TR, 42, 43 Tlatch, 43 Springlatch, 43-401 #13, 46, 47 BLK, 530, 812HS, 3300, 3300BK, 3550, 10300 Bradley Cutlery Mayhem.

The blade steel isn't really a problem. If I'm lucky with won't cut too many fingers. Looking at it I felt like it didn't look like the other 154cm blades I had. Any idea what years the T latchs were made? The 440C and 12c27 models. I'm really curious to find out how old this knife is.

I didn't plan that far ahead. I won't be able to take pictures until Sunday night. The handles are titanium and the Bali-Song logo has antenna and is laser etched on the the blade. I'll post pictures on Sunday night.
