Why are the newer Balisongs more rough in feel (154 CM) versus the 440 C versions?

What feels more rough? The surface of the blade? The newer blades a all machine ground and then tumbled and have some texture from that process left over that is part of what Benchmade calls the satin finish. If you are talking about older 42 with 440C they where still machine ground but as I understand it had some hand finishing and where tumbled a little longer. The old models where (all custom shop knives where hand ground by Jody Samson and a few others) where machine cut and hand polished to a mirror finish. _______________________________ May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead.

The newer run of 154CM 42s did not have as much buffing applied to the handles. Not only is the surface texture of the handles rougher, but there are also corners and edges that are sharper. It appears this change was made on purpose as a way or reducing costs in the production of the 42. Less attention was paid to these overall as the handles seem to have other QC issues as well. Some folks like the rougher texture, most don't. BRING BACK THE CUSTOM SHOP
