Which model of 29 Knives bali? The maker has offered quite a few designs over the years.

I have one 29 Knives model that reminds me of a better crafted Cho-No-Chi, while another one reminds me of the custom Benchmades I have held.

As far as carrying goes, I'll take a SWAT Tigre.

I've got a Wings and a model without the wings. The wings get caught on everyting, darn it.

Of course, this just shows that there is a lot of market out there for balis that are not in the 4X series.

The Mayhem is a dandy bali, as is my regular carry Morpho 32. Have yet to take a shine to the Morpho 51 (probably due to the thin blade - a problem shared with the Tigre, but at 5 times the price of the Tigre) and the 53 is too new to really get much use time in my hands.

Quality wise, the 29 Knives balis beat out the production Benchmade balis I've seen of late.

A comparison between a production and a custom balisong is not fair IMHO. Is like comparing between mangoes and avocados. A production balisong (Benchmade) is mass produced while 29 knives is handmade. By saying this I am not stating that BMs are not good, in fact the BM 4X series is one of the best balisong produced, especially the BM43. On the other hand, 29 knives are hand made and fitted by Chris Olofson one at a time. The 29 knives are heavier and built like a tank. On a 29 knives you can order one made to your specifications (if you can reach and contact Chris), blade type (finish, style), handle type (skeletonized, with a specific insert, etc). Also, the old MTs (Microtech) Tachyons are also one of the best production balisongs ever produced. The fit and finish is like a custom balisong. For the price of a once mass produced BM balisong (2ish for a BM42 up to 4-5 hundred for a limited edition production balisong), I would spend my hard earned dollars on a 29 knives built to my specs. Just my 2 cents........

Have a Happy Holidays my fellow forumites.
