Now who is the dummy? I hope Benchmade keeps producing the 42 and brings back the other 4xseries.

Just me gloating and reeling at folks who just paid 300+ for theirs. That is all.

Stop bashing my customers?

They've already said the 4x series is dead. Right now they're just reducing their stash of spare parts incrementally through the end of next year. It's true we bought them years back when they were $150 or $120, but that knife is still worth $300 for what it is in my opinion. It flips better than most customs, will last a lifetime, is made of Ti and good blade steel, has adjustable pivots, great balance, dynamics, lifetime warranty. Lot of knives sell for more that have alot less to offer.

FWIW-The run is small by BMK "production standard". However they are making 1000 42's, released in batches as they are made. Some dealers are still awaiting theirs.

wow! there will be quite a number of 42s available! may be not enough to bring peace into every kick-ass movie victim's soul but enough to fix prices and let this hysteria burn away with time

The small runs will continue until the end of 2011, to total 1000 pieces total. They are sloughing off left over parts from production and don't need them all to handle warranty repairs. I think it may have the effect of lowering prices a little in the short term, but in the long term 42's will just continue going up. There's nothing in the pipeline to replace it

I think many of 42's will make their way back to the secondary market sooner or later. Well, the prices will go up with time, but I suppose that many fresh owners will realize with time that they are neither hardcore flippers nor collectors. Cool factor will fade out with time and there will be user friendly models like 32/51/53. Anyways it is nice that Benchmade is able to dampen demand for the time of hectic activity on the market.
