I don't know how they were when they came out, but, sure isn't anything like the 4X models I'm used to.
It's pretty loose and doesn't lock up very good open but stays closed OK.
But cosmetically it's in pretty decent shape for it's age.

they are definitly built like tanks! real heavy handles. weakest point being the brass pins

Look up the Vise/Coke bottle trick for tightening the pins. Go very slowly and watch very closely. Easy to damage something
