blue painters tape will work better with your knives the electrical tape will be too tacky and leave an annoying residue on your knives.

Read my thread on minimizing cuts.

What move are you trying to do?

I find "mental rehearsal" of what I'm trying to do works.

That's the sad part. They were easy moves. I read your post which was very good. I am literally the newest of newbies. I think I will use some tape for a while.

One of these days, when I have more money than sense, I'm going to buy an extra 51, dull the edge and round off the point!

I realize that this is a Benchmade site but you can buy a Kimura and do that for a lower cost.

While you're right on the price it's better to practice with same weight/design trainer.

I have a couple of Kimuras and I like them a lot, but RxEnergy is right on about my reasoning. I've got a good deal of others, too, including two "dull-from-the-manufacturer" Knifekits. All I'd have to do with one of those is round off the tip, but it's just not the same feel.

for what its worth...
1. if the knife is not some thing you are going to cut with, just
run the edge down a ceramic hone to knock the edge off.
2. stop trying to catch it when things are going wrong....
3.if your afraid it will get hurt from the drop then I recommend
practicing in the yard in a grassy patch. I really like over the bed.
you don't have to bend over to far to pick it up.
4. tighten the pins a little bit, it will spin slower, and you have to
be more deliberate about your movements, but hey it worked for me.

5 did I mention not catching the bali if the trick goes rong...just
let it drop.

most cuts I've ever had have been just a bit deeper than paper cuts.
Band aid brand has a really great bandaid. and some neosporine..a few
days and you're twirling again.

Perfect advice!

The only nasty cut I got was trying to catch a falling knife after a botched trick. It's a good way to get a flap cut instead of the surface cuts.

Also be ready to move your feet out of the way when you drop a knife. Getting a knife in your foot will ruin your day.
