Did the blade rust or develop patina in problem areas? If it's patina, on a user knife, I'd probably stick the blade into a can with mustard for a day or two to make the coverage uniform and wouldn't really hurt the blade but give the knife some more character.  ____________________________ Knock, knock. good idea!  Neither patina nor rust have written it off.
