So, first of all I'm new to balisongs and started purchasing them a few weeks ago. I got my 51 for Christmas and also bought a 51 yesterday for a really good deal. Over the last few weeks I've accumalated quite a few Model 42's. I've got 4 NIB spring latch 42's, 1 42 T-latch that looks like new, and another 42 T-latch that is new, and a Bradley Kimura II and V.
Here's my dilemna, I downloaded a video and also have a book. I'm ready to start learning the techniques. I can't decide which bali to use. I got the 51 specifically for everyday carry so I figured I should use it. But then, if the 42 is the "Holy Grail" of flippers, maybe I should just set out a 42 specifically for play.
Anyone have any advice? 42 spring latch, 42 t-latch, 51, both ???

Learn on both. Big Grin

51 AND 42

No sense in having a Bali you can't use

Plus it's fun to practice

If you like the Kimuras, use them to play with as they are least expensive and easier to replace.

The 42 is generally considered easier to learn the various flipping moves with, though.

I found out how much flipping the 42 built up the strength in my hand which then made flipping the 51 really easy.... I get the 51 going so fast I have to be careful.

Guess I'm probably going to flip both. I just really dread marking them up, but oh well.

I get so jealous reading about all the sweet balisong action you guys enjoy. Canadian knife laws suck!
