I've got a PCC model 44 that needs some TLC ...

It's loose as a goose at the pivots, doesn't latch open or closed [tang pin just doesn't seem to fit tightly in to handle recesses] ... and other than that is in wonderful condition [no chips out of the blade, only very minor nibbles on the latch & safe handle].

I know I'm probably scr*w*d ... but I'd appreciate recommendations for getting it put back in to prime condition.

Thanks in advance,

-doc

It's been done before. Bali-Song, Inc, PCC. Call them to make sure, but as far as I know BM will cover them. Also, 44 is a Benchmade model, not PCC.

I just checked the catalogs and you're correct. There was a 44 PCC toward the end of PCC's existence. Started around '86. Company became Benchmade in '88. It's a 4" tanto, just like BM model.

I would really like to see a photo of your 44 doc. Im thinking they must have made those with hidden pins and also visible pivot pins. that catalog image is interesting but Im not convinced just yet.

Good luck finding a PCC 44!! Anyways, neither the PCC nor the BM 44 were ever made with exposed pins, the model 44 was always a deluxe finish model, just like the 45 and the 48.
