I thought words like "always" are not used when describing products made by BM PCC BS. OK Im convinced... for now. that is a BM44 though.

That IS a BM 44, but the only way to tell for sure would be to see the other side. BMs have Bencmade USA on the reverse, PCC has the Patent # above Made in USA.

I have some photos I would like to share but they are not mine and I dont know how to post them anyway. one photo clearly shows a catalog photo like Rx's with pins showing. the other photo is some lucky sobs PC44 with family, pins showing. I believe everybody here because PCC cannot be trusted after this long but the knives know the truth.
the BM44 has a 4.5 inch blade oal 9.5 inch and is a robust tanto style shape. this I know.
the PC44 photos I have seen depict a 4 inch blade oal 9 inch with a refined shallow tanto style blade very straight and plain.
the BM 44 blade seems to jump out at you looks almost too big to fit in the handles. PCC44 does not.

Would loctite have prevented it from getting so loose?

loctite probly would have just made a mess on this one. his only real solution is to cut drill fab grind. or some superglue will get you there for a limited time. calling Benchmade may also help.

Yikes!

Didn't know one little post could generate so much interest ...

It IS a PCC44 ... Butterfly on one side, US PAT NO on the other above Made in USA ... and the blade grind is SLIGHTLY different from what is shown in the pix from Benchmade Nut ...

It was a gift from a old flame of mine back in '86 or '87 [sorry, memory ain't perfect anymore] and is in the same condition as when I got it.

I'll try to post some pix later ...

Thanks to all who have contributed ... I'm going to write to Benchmade and see if I can get this one brought up to original factory condition.

You'll get a better response by calling them. Some people complained about slow response to emails.
Let us know how it goes Smiler
