Every day, before using or flipping one, I look it over, checking for the dirt and dust that is always attracted to lubricants. It accumulates and sticks to the oil, coming from the air, hands or pockets. If it's starting to look dirty, I clean it with naptha (lighter fluid) and re-lube. Mine never go without attention long enough to squeak. Most luthiers and guitar repair guys use naptha to clean instruments, especially the fretboard before polishing and changing strings. It cuts right through grease and grime. ************************************************************************ Charter Member #9 and Skullmaster °„° Lum Lunatics Brotherhood of the 420 Boomerangs 'n Butterflies: An Osborne Alliance | General, and Member #950 Pardue Pimps® #3 Jack of all Trades, and Good Enough to get Paid for All of Them. ************************************************************************ "No time for the old 'in-out,' luv - I've just come to read the meter!" -Alexander DeLarge (Prisoner Number Six Double Five Three Two One)

Depends on how often it is flipped. PB washers on 51 don't normally require lube. But If I feel there is some room to improve smoothness then I lube it. It may be once a week. ---------------------------------------------------- 42, 42SS, 42-400, 43, 43MC, 46MC, Balibalistic TAC-U, DR Venturi V82 Tanto I have two pets: a large main cat, and a small emergency backup one.

I clean and lube my knives after every use. But it's just my knife OCD. _______________________________ May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead.
