Please don't hunt me down and kill me for heresy, but.... Can a factory pocket clip from a 4xC be fitted directly to a spring latch 42S with no modifications other than new latch pins? And does Benchmade offer a service like that? Thanks! Dave

no bm will not pimp... you could try but you would be just as as well to buy a custom clip so both screws could hold it..... a factory 42mc is milled to hold the clip,a base 42 is round arched so a custom would be better......good luck... ooooooooooo welcome <--------------------<<<< >>>>--------------------> DO NOT TRUST YOUR LIFE TO A POS CHARTER MEMBER #1 LUM LUNATICS

I'm guessing you mean a 42SS with stainless handles and not a 42S that would just be a 42 serrated. Either way, no. The models with a clip have a recessed area machined into the handle where the clip attaches. There was a 42 with Stainless handles with a clip but it was a limited run of 50 pieces. It was the 42SSC also called 42SS-01. If you are talking about a clip on a 42 serrated, there was a 42SMC made with Ti handles, Spring Latch, Partially Serrated blade and a clip.

Yeah, mine's Ti. Probably be better to just trade if the difference isn't too steep, I reckon.

In that case, there are a few versions with Titanium handles that were made with a clip. Here are a couple pic's of one of them.

Currently at work, and the 42S is on its way to me (just bought it). Presently I've just got a 51 and 32, a Pacific Cutlery "International Series" that I learned with back in the '80s (sharpened the swedge on it back then, and it bloodied me mightily), and a 3" SS that I'm having a hard time finding in the black hole that is my shop. Original CS Mini-Tanto that does boot duty, and a few reasonably cool Spydercos. An original black EOD Leatherman and a smattering of other stuff. Never really had them sit for portraits, as I am mostly a gun guy. The knives were kind of a sideline so people who couldn't drop major coin at my tables for Class III goodies could give me money, too.

Sounds like a great assortment. You shouldn't have much trouble tracking down a 42 with a clip. They pop up on the forums every so often. You could also try the WTB section. Good Luck
