I think one could put some on the edge of a knife blade - might be a new idea, though?

Who actually buys trainer knives? In the courses I have taken, they used rubber knives.

Just put a hole in a nice pair of pants with a 53. You'd think lighter would be better, but the Mayhem flips easier IMO.

Count me in with the 51T, it's so hard and expensive to find a 40TR nowadays, that a 51T would be lot useful.

For those who enjoy cuting and slicing their hands just keep on having fun.

If I didn't have a 40tr I would probably be interested in a 51 trainer, but I feel ok about having just one quality trainer.

That said, I would much, much, much prefer a ti handled, sharp 51. The regular 51 is too light. The same skeltonization as the g-10, but made out of ti would be sweet! Much better balanced.

I am not stupid 15 year old who does not value the function of his body. I have already severed one tendon in my hand/finger (and trust me, it is not that hard to do with a sharp knife) and it NEVER heals up the way it should.

So go ahead and sever a tendon in your index finger and go shoot a gun. They will call you "One Shot Larry" from now on, because you can't flex your finger back open...Wink

And tape? who needs the hassle and clean up.

Depends on the course work.

I have taken about 7-8 of Michael Janich's seminars of the last 6 years. We use trainers in those classes a lot. I train with some related training groups, and we use them. If we are going force on force we move to homemade foam knives.

I'd be in for a 51T. Wouldn't mind finding a 42T, either.

I would definitely be in for a trainer. Actually I would probably prefer a trainer for EDC. I really just want one to keep my hands busy, without the risk of cutting myself.
