I just purchased a 51bk and a 32bl online from blade hq and noticed that the finish on the clip seems to not be fully blue. It almost has the appearance of being worn off. I have noticed this on some of the blue anodized coating at various points on the knife.

I was wondering if it had something to do with the process of coating the blade in the black. Does anyone know what the deal is?

all of bm's knives are made and coated in pieces so it has nothing to do with the black blade...i have a 32 satin blade and the clip has a little spot that is miscolored like your saying and i dont know exactly what the reason is...if it bothers you i'm sure you could email or call bm and have them send you out new clips they should do it free of charge.

thanks for the response. It just seems odd in a new knife. With the 32 I purchased, the blue anodized part inside is not really that blue.

I just wanted to make sure I was not getting some funky or fake models. It just seems odd for brand new knifes. I own several other benchmade's and have never had this issue.

OB I have the same issue with poorly anodized blue liners on the non clip side. Clip side looks great, pops blue. I am thinking about sending it in for a fix. I can be quite picky though.

I understand what you mean...you pay top dollar for a top dollar knife...and the annodizing seems to be a small issue with bm...but my 32 is a beater so it doesnt bother me...just talk to bm and see what they say they may give you instruction to send it in.

this seems strange based on the others I own which all are perfect out of the box. I wonder if It has something to do with the blue anodizing process. They are definitely not finished well.

Luckily for me, I live in Portland. It is annoying though.....

I would have rather they not anodized it and had it look better out of the box. The blue color was not necessarily a selling point for me anyway. IF you are going to do it, at least make it look good.

My 51 has a deep blue color; the 32 has a much lighter blue hue. This applies both to the clip and the handles. They're both unused and neither has spent time in the sun or anything that might fade them. It's odd how variations can occur from batch to batch.
